You may have read or heard about Seth Godin’s Great Book – Small is the New BIG. Well this article ISNT about that! But you should buy and read the book anyway :-)

What it’s about is this.

The Small things on your Website – that can make a BIG difference.

Like these 7 Things. …..

  1. Make Sure Someone is Home. Put Your Telephone Number and Contact Details on Every page of your Website.
  2. Put On a Real Face. Personalise Your website by showing a photo/ pic of someone real who customers/ visitors can relate to.
  3. Keep Your Home Clean. Dont Clutter Your Home Page too much. It’s confusing for vistors. Rather concentrate on 3-5 key things.
  4. Cross-Pollinate Your Pages! Include relevant text-links to cross pollinate your pages.
  5. Picture It. Pics DO Tell a Thousand words. Too much text without pics is just plain overwhelming. And boring.
  6. Titles Do Matter. Make sure Your Pages ALL have different and relevant Page Titles.
  7. Keep it Simple – Stupid KISS. Always err on the side of Simplicity. Less IS More. Provide less info – and an option for a visitor to request more information. (Also known as Layered Information Delivery)

And most important of all…….. Have a clear ‘Call to Action’ for visitors. Dont make them guess what they need to do next… tell them!

  • “Contact Us to Discuss in Person”
  • “Download a Free Copy of this Guide”
  • “Join our Newsletter”
  • “Keep Up-to-Date by Following us on Twitter”
  • “Call us Now on 027 713 5913 – to discuss ANY queries/ questions you may have”
  • “Can’t Find What You’re Looking For? Contact us”
  • “Buy Now”

…. You get the idea. These are the “Money Phrases” The payload you WANT people to get to.

Make it Easy for them to do so. And dont make them ‘small’ and hidden away in hard to find places. Make them BIG and obvious.

To Your Success on the Web
